Business Studies at NCUK
At NCUK-Riphah we offer high quality, innovative courses to inspire and challenge you. Our courses are designed to meet the needs of the real world and prepare you for a rewarding career. It is designed for applicants who do not currently meet the admissions criteria for direct entry to a UK degree and who can benefit from a program that begins with one or two years of intensive, well-structured support.
If you wish to study business, economics or finance but you are not sure yet which area to specialize in then this could be the program for you!
During study time of one or two years at NCUK-Riphah you will study a range of business-related modules; and you will be taught in relatively small class sizes by University teaching staff. These first two years allow you to develop a good understanding of different aspects of business management and also to develop the academic and study skills necessary to progress to an undergraduate degree at any of our UK partner University.

Course Outline
International Foundation Year – Business Studies
the overall aim is to ensure that students have a solid grounding in many aspects of business studies and feel confident in commencing the study of business-related courses at undergraduate level. Operations management is not included.
Syllabus Summary
– Marketing: The nature of marketing; Market analysis; Segmentation and positioning; Market research; Marketing strategy; The marketing Mix.
– Accounting and Finance: The role of limitations of accounting; Finance; Financial; accounting; Cost and Management Accounting.
– People and Organizations: Organizational Structure and design; Motivation; Leadership and management styles; Personnel Management and HRM; Labour and Management relations.
– Business and the Legal Environment: Equal opportunities; National Minimum wage; Consumer protection and elements of UK; Contract law.
– Fundamentals of Management: Strategy and Objectives.
Assessment
The final summative assessment is made up of 30% continuous assessment (coursework) and 70% final examination(s).
